Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos advanced to the round of 32 of the 2016 Federation Cup after a hard-earned victory over El-Kanemi Babes Football Club of Maiduguri on Wednesday at the Kaduna Township Stadium.

The Lagos-based team came from a goal down to edge El-Kanemi Babes FC courtesy of a last minute glancing header from defender, Abisoye Olawale.

El-Kanemi Babes FC began the encounter with the first kick of the ball. Their first attempt on goal came in the third minute of the game. MFM FC dominated possession but failed to convert numerous goal opportunities that came their way in the tension-soaked encounter.

The Borno State representatives got the first goal of the match in the 32nd minutes, MFM FC waited till the last minute of the five minutes added time in the second half before Abisoye pulled a goal back after connecting a fine cross from Adegboyega Adekunle to draw level for coach Fidelis Ilechuckwu’s men.

The game was decided on penalty kicks. MFM FC converted four out of six spot kicks while El-Kanemi Babes FC converted three with goalkeeper, Abayomi Folarin pulling two great saves. El Kanemi’s last kick hit the cross bar. The match ended in a 4-3 win for the Olukoya Boys.
